Joshua Kimmich says he is "relaxed" about his Bayern Munich future despite the sought-after midfielder nearing the last year of his contract.

- Midfielder 'relaxed' about his contract
WHAT HAPPENED?
The German international will be a free agent in the summer of 2025 and as his contract ticks down, links with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona have grown. Although the 29-year-old is intrigued to know who will replace Thomas Tuchel as Bayern boss at the end of the season, his future may be somewhat up in the air.
WHAT JOSHUA KIMMICH SAID
He told German newspaper Die Wel: "For me, the situation is very clear. I still have over a year left on my contract, so I’m relaxed about it. As of now, it is still unclear who will be our new coach from the summer. It is, of course, very interesting and important to know who it will be. My first priority now is to make the season as positive as possible, in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League. Then comes the Euros. These are the things that matter."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite the exit links, Kimmich, who was the subject of transfer interest from Newcastle United in January, is very much focused on achieving success with Bayern - who may try and sell him this summer rather than letting him leave for free.
When asked if Bayern's 10-point deficit to Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen annoys him, he replied: "Very, absolutely. When you start the season with Bayern, you want to become champion. But I also have to say that Bayer Leverkusen are having an outstanding season. We’re not doing great. There are still points up for grabs – we haven’t written them off yet. But, of course, we see that Leverkusen are on a run. We go into every game to win. We can’t influence what Leverkusen do."
WHAT NEXT?
Kimmich is currently on international duty with Germany, who play France on Saturday and then the Netherlands on Tuesday, before returning to Bundesliga action with Bayern against Borussia Dortmund on March 30.
